Conditions of Sale
Coins of the Realm Limited (the Company) acts as agent for the seller. By making a bid, the buyer acknowledges acceptance of these conditions and agrees to be bound by them. These conditions are construed in accordance with English law.
Buyer’s premium
All lots are subject to a Buyer’s Premium of 0%, inclusive of VAT. All international buyers are responsible for any taxes deriving from the exportation of their purchases. The only extra cost is postage and insurance.
Bidding
The buyer of any lot will be the highest bidder. In the event of any dispute, the Company shall have absolute discretion to settle the dispute, which may mean re-offering the lot for sale. The Company may divide any lot, combine two or more lots or withdraw any lot without giving any reason, and may refuse any bid. Bid increments are set out in the increment table — please view it before placing your bids. Commission bids are executed free of charge; they must be agreed in writing and received at least 24 hours before live bidding begins. ‘Buy’ bids will not be accepted.
Payment
All buyers must pay the full purchase price within 10 working days of the live auction unless the Company has previously agreed credit terms. Bank transfer is our preferred method of payment; Swift/BACS payments are accepted, and debit/credit cards are accepted (limits apply). Payments by personal cheque must be deposited the next working day after the auction finishes. All invoices must be paid in full before they will be dispatched, and ownership of lots does not pass to the buyer until the Company has received payment in full. The Company reserves the right to charge interest on overdue payments at three per cent per month.
Condition & grading
Lots are sold as shown with all faults, imperfections and errors of description. Coins are graded to accepted UK standards to the best ability of our specialists; grading is subjective and may vary from specialist to specialist. All statements as to items sold are statements of opinion only.
Refunds
If any lot is proved by the buyer to be not genuine or authentic, or to have been wrongly described in any material respect, the buyer may reject it, provided written notice is given and the lot is returned to the Company within one month of the sale in the same condition. If the coin was in a plastic holder at the time of sale, we cannot accept its return if it has been removed from that holder; items in graded holders are sold as is and can only be returned if deemed fake.
Postage
UK Special Delivery £20 per parcel (£1–£1,000) or £25 per parcel (£1,001–£2,500); courier for parcels valued at £3,000 upwards and all European and international parcels (£80 + insurance). All import and customs charges are the responsibility of the buyer.
